Styling Velvet For A Casual Look

DRESS: TOBI | ROLL NECK: H&M | BOOTS: OFFICE | NECKLACE: ASOS

Hello lovelies, how were your christmases? I hope they were full of happiness however you spent them! And if you don't celebrate Christmas, well I hope you enjoyed the days to relax and rejuvenate. Mine has been spent with plenty of food and laughter and the food is still flowing now, which is totally ok with me and it's actually the first year that I have been able to eat and eat so I am fully embracing this.

Just before christmas I was introduced to this brand Tobi and I am so excited that I was because I think it could be a new favourite brand of mine. As I was looking to link this dress I already came across stuff that I didn't know I needed but now desperately need. When they contacted me I was kindly allowed to choose 3 items to style and so I opted for this velvet dress and got it in the colour teal, I was torn between this and the blush colour but I thought that teal would be different and since everyone is loving the blush velvet just like me I didn't want to over do it. I chose to style it in a casual way as I feel a lot of people see velvet as a dressy material and due to working in a school I am always grabbing for my jeans and wanted to find some outfits that would stop me doing this and now I am itching to go back after the new year (not really) and wear this outfit to school. I think it works so well with the roll neck and still keeps me warm. I am also wanting to style it with a white long sleeved top as I feel that could bring out the teal colour little more.

I also then styled it with my boots because I am obsessed with these still and they really do add a few inches to little ole 5"2 me! I feel this whole outfit screams wintery vibes and I am loving it. I actually wore it christmas eve and I'm dying to get it all washed so I can wear it again. It's a firm favourite and it's definitely going to see me through spring too. I can't wait to style the dress with short sleeved tees as well and a leather jacket and even with my hi top converse. I feel it's such a versatile piece.

Party Season: The Risque Look

BLAZER: BOOHOO | SKIRT: ASOS | TOP: CALVIN KLEIN | NECKLACE: ASOS

So it's the third outfit in my party season series which I have labelled the risque outfit, just because I have the blazer undone haha, but my dignity is still hidden so maybe I am just a big old prude! I am absolutely adoring velvet at the moment, especially in this beautiful blush colour ever since seeing the topshop blush velvet suit I know I needed to recreate it in some way and although I didn't go all out with the trousers too (I wish I did) I found this adorable jacket on boohoo which is just perfect. You can tie it as well like I have or wear it open with a cute top underneath to create the perfect party look. I styled it slightly open with this calvin klein underneath due to not having a black crop top but feel it looks good anyway!

Another statement piece this season has been the pleather skirt and so I thought what better way to incoorperate that style in than in a party outfit. Now I'm not usually a pleather gal but after seeing many bloggers style it I just knew I had to have one in my wardrobe and because this one was so plain I knew it wouldn't take away from the blazer.

Now I haven't pictured any shoes just because this was such a casual set up, but you could pair it with heels if you were going all out, boots for a slightly more casual look or if you're like me then I'd just pair it with my trusty old skool vans because that's just me!

Have you got your new years outfit sorted yet, or any late christmas parties you need to buy for? Don't forget to check out both of my other party season posts, here and here

On The Journey Of Finding My Personal Style

JUMPER: URBAN OUTFITTERS | SKIRT: PRETTY LITTLE THING | BOOTS: OFFICE | BAG: ZARA (old)

For a while now I've really struggled with finding my style and all of that rubbish I've spoken about before here. But recently I really have enjoyed just shopping for me and not worrying too much on what other bloggers are doing or wearing and through that I feel I am slowly finding a style I love and feel comfortable in.

Even looking back on my blog some of the outfits just don't feel me and although I don't hate them even looking back I can tell that's not me. I mean of course I'd love to be able to pull of the really fashionable looking outfits, keep up with all the trends and although I would love to dress like many bloggers as I am always in awe when they post outfits and they look all glamorous and amazing and I still spend hours finding similar items or pining over their exact item, I just do not suit the style that some bloggers wear. It could be because my lifestyle is so different. I mean for one, 5 days a week I am spending my time playing and teaching children so if I went in dressed to the nines I'd probably get some looks and although I'm worried this could hinder my 'getting noticed' and drawing in an audience just because I'm not wearing what everyone seems to be; although I am fully aware that isn't the be all and end all of blogging. I mean I love seeing my numbers grow but I also just love putting content to together and blabbering about my thoughts on the internet and just hope others also enjoy my waffles, and I'm really not trying to blow my own horn and scream things like 'oo look at me I'm not following the trends as such or look I'm trying to be different'

That's why from now on I'm going to focus on what I like to wear and if it's just throwing on a tee and jeans with a pair of trainers and an oversized denim jacket of some sort than so be it. I'll wear it and I'll feel super cool in it. I said this year would be the year I finally find my style and that's exactly what I'm doing, I'm trying not too much at what others are wearing (although I still take major style inspo from many bloggers) and just enjoy shopping for me and I feel I'm nailing my style. In fact for once I feel excited to dress for winter and practice layering and sorts. I think I mentioned before that I was going to concentrate on affordable fashion and showing you how to style pieces again and again in different ways. But when I wrote that, I didn't listen to myself and I spent a lot of energy agonising about not feeling like I dress like a blogger (if there even is a blogger style) and wasting lots of money to get a piece just because others had it. I'm not saying I won't ever wear trend pieces because if I like a trend of course I'll buy it. I feel I do still wear things that are 'on trend'. I'm just not going to keep feeling the pressure to dress just to fit in.

But yeah, that's my little ramble on my style, it's really not ground breaking and it's not vastly different from what others wear, although it sounds like it is, but it feels more me and I'm just excited to get out and take photos show you what I love wearing and outfit repeat (not completely) but really show you my personal style.

Party Season: The Casual Dress Look

DRESS: GLAMOROUS (via topshop, in red) | JACKET: TOPSHOP | BOOTS: OFFICE | BAG: CHLOE FAYE DUPE | BELT (similar) | NECKLACE: STELLA & DOT

Party season outfit idea number two! Still a dress, but I feel a lot more casual. When I saw this I knew from the moment I laid eyes on it I HAD to have it in my wardrobe for the party season. I am all about stars and constellations at the moment and the gold against the grey/black velvet colour was just too dreamy. Now when I got it in an extra small, put it on and in all honesty it swamped me completely it was HUGE. But I styled it with my trusty belt and pulled it up to make it a little shorty and still loved it. So velvet? check! Star pattern? check! and gold details? check! What more could you want in a party season outfit?

I paired it with my trusty pair of sock boots that I go for my birthday and I think along with my leather jacket it gives it quite a cool vibe, some might even say biker chic! I just feel the two tied the dress so well together and again if I wanted to it would be perfect for a Christmas work do or a house party on new years eve as it's not too dressy but has the perfect little details just to look festive enough!

Now I knew because the gorgeous pattern was gold I had to get all of my accessories to match as you know that's what is seen as the done thing and all. Now I was going to wear my ASOS necklace, but then I remembered about my gorgeous Stella and Dot necklace and thought although the pendant is silver, it would look cool because I could pretend it's a moon and also the chain is gold so it's all good! I bought out my Chloe Faye dupe for this outfit as I hadn't worn it in a while and it has the gorgeous gold chain detail, perfect!

Who's fully in the festive spirit now?! Only 19 days to go! Have you done all of your Christmas shopping yet?

Party Season: The Dressed Up Look

DRESS: PRETTY LITTLE THING | HEELS: (similar) | NECKLACE: ASOS

It's that time of year! I guess you'll hear a lot of that during this month, I know I've already written that phrase already during my gift guide bonanza. But yeah, party wear season is upon us and for the first time in forever I have two work christmas parties to attend and potentially a new years eve party. That meaning am in full browsing mode for outfits to wear and this year I have actually found a good few outfits I'd wear, which is rare for me as I am a total casual girl at heart and anything slightly dressy I run in the opposite direction. I guess it must have something to do with feeling so confident with my style at the moment.

But anyway, yes I have titled this the dressed up look. Some may disagree and I'm sure some could dress this up further. But putting on heels and a pretty silky like dress is dressy for me and so the title is going to stick. Onto the dress. Isn't the colour just perfect for this time of year?! I am a sucker for burgundy and when I saw this I just new it would be perfect, not only is it appropriate for the work do due to the neck line not being too low, the silk likeness of it just gives it such a glammed up look, I am in love with it. I love the little waist detail too because you can pull the dress up to make the waist detail look a lot better too. But I wasn't a fan of how short it made it so did vote against it, but still I love the choice.

I paired it with some heels just to dress it up that little extra to show what I'd do if I was going all out and I really like it. The heels are pretty simple so it doesn't take away from the dress too much. I think a strap around the ankle can be so simple but also quite sexy. My heels are quite a block heel as I can't really walk too well and they kill my feet but you can definitely pair it with a thinner heel, I think if you are wearing gold jewellery if you find the right pair of gold heels it could look quite nice, or it could look tacky you decide!

Lastly, is the necklace. Now it's not pictures too well but it is my absolute favourite at the moment. I'm loving accessorising at the moment and I feel layered necklaces work so well. Not to mention that this has moons and stars which I am a massive fan of at the moment. But don't worry I'm sure you'll see better pictures of this necklace soon because I don't take it off!

So who is excited for the party season? Have you found anything yet? If so I'd love to hear what ideas you have!

Gift Guide: Beauty

Here we are, day 5 of the 5 day installment! I hope they have been helpful and if not I hope you have at least enjoyed a festive post or 5 on my blog. The last one is beauty. Now some might say, but why, you aren't into beauty. Well actually I enjoy it a lot. I like how it can make you look and feel when you practically paint your face and also I love skincare, it is a weakness of mine and I follow a routine day and night because I just really enjoy and same goes for fragrances I do not leave the house with spritzing myself. So there is something for anyone, even if you aren't a big make up lover.

Ok so a lot of girls enjoy make up, so why not try and route around your gals make up bag and see if they're running low, make a note and surprise them with topping up their stash, you don't know how appreciated they could be. Alternatively, there are also many brands that can be a little expensive but lust worthy, why not treat them to a new product they have never tried before (obviously make sure it's something they want before you go spending a small fortune) But they would be a wonderful idea. I love charlotte tilbury prodcuts not to mention very photogenic products, nars are always pretty good.

Skincare is another great idea, there are many many many options and most girls claim they need them all, me included, they do different things after all! I went through a face where I think I bought like 3 different moisturisers in one go because they were all for different purposes, well that's what I told myself. I am forever restocking my skincare so like the make up why not see what someone is running low on and help them out. Also some skincare could be a lustful product so you could surprise them with that and also around this time of year there are plenty of skincare/haircare sets to pick from! Good places to look are the botanics range at boots, kiehls, clinique, glossier (they have make up to) origins do good gift sets too.

You can't write a beauty gift guide and not mention perfume. Like mentioned in the gift guide for her post. It really is probably one of the most perfect gifts, But like mentioned, make sure you know her taste in perfume they all smell very different and all have different prices ranges, favs of mine at the moment are Jo Malone, Byredo, Elizabeth and James, tom ford, YSL black opium and even & other stories fragrances are pretty dreamy!

Can you believe 5 posts done already, this was so fun to do! I kinda wish I'd done blogmas now, but hey always next year! Also happy first of December, only 24 days until the big day now!! Happy shopping and I hope these helped even just a little bit!
