The Perfect LBD

DRESS: BRANDY MELVILLE | CARDIGAN: GAP (old) | SHOES: VANS | SUNGLASSES: RAYBANS | NECKLACE: STELLA & DOT

So we've all seen that famous Urban Outfitters LBD that every blogger is styling and I'd be lying if I said I hadn't fallen inlove with it also, but alas the price tag was however was stopping our relationship. So when I took a trip to london and fell into Brandy Melville like I have to every time I take a visit and I am so glad I did because I would not have found this dress, which is practically the same as the UO one and I know that I could not leave without it, especially as it is nearly half the price of the other one how could I not say no!

I feel it really is the perfect LBD, as you can see I've styled it for a casual day time look, but through on a pair of heels, and a jacket or killer lipstick and your ready for a night with the girls (note to self, style and snap photos in both next time)  The fit is just perfect with that slight A-line cut and spaghetti strap its just gorgeous and so simple.

I decided to style it with this gorgeous necklace from Stella & Dot. I was kindly gifted it and also went to a recent event they held in Brighton, which was amazing! They'd styled the place so gorgeously and the girls were so so friendly it was so nice, not to mention the gorgeous products they had out which are to die for! But yes, this necklace. doesn't it just remind you of a Missoma piece. I loved that the chain is gold but the horn is silver it's such a difference and for a girl that doesn't wear much gold its a lovely way for me to get to like it. I just thought it was such a simple piece to dress up the dress.

Botanics | The New and Improved

Recently I was approached by the brand botanics and asked if I wanted to create content with them and after looking through their instagram, I thought *why not?* I mean just look at the products to begin they are so dreamy looking and so photogenic. That's not the only reason though. I loved the fact the brand was all natural and plant based. Sometimes the thought of all the chemicals in other skincare is a little scary and the damage it's probably causing slightly *shudders* The products use high quality ingredients and they don't test on animals, sold yet? I am thoroughly enjoying the products and so is my skin especially with burst of late summer we've been having they are just gorgeous!
Rosewater Toning Spritz - This weather recently, damn is it hot again! After spending the day on the beach and then taking off the salt water and sand in the shower, my skin still felt hot and just not quite clean enough, but a few spritz of this and wow. Honestly, it not only made the skin feel rejuvenated and cleaner but it really was so calming and refreshing my skin loved it. Also the smell is so refreshing too. In all honesty a lot of my skincare doesn't have a smell that instantly makes me think *awww* but even the smell of this is refreshing. Absolutely perfect.

Hyrdrating Day Cream - If there is one part of my skin care I always always ensure I keep up, it's moisturising every day/night (let's be honest we've all been tired or lazy from time to time and not done the whole skincare routine) I will give any moisturiser a go, I just love keeping my skin radiant and hydrated, even on a very hot day it sunk in quickly and left no greasy feel to the skin. My skin feels just as soft as when using other moisturisers, not to mention the benefits of rosehip giving omega-3 and 6 essential fatty acids that really do help to nourish the skin.

All Bright Purifying Scrub - I am all for anything that exfoliates my skin and leaves it all bright and glowing not only is hibiscus my favourite flower but it also has brightening properties which I am always looking for in my skincare as I love that bright glowy look and when my face started to peel due to a little sunburn it really did stop the peeling, not completely but I didn't look so flaky and gross and that along with the moisturiser both worked so well together.

All Bright Radiance Balm - Now I know I already mentioned I love a bright glowy look and girls, this is the true answer to it all. This little beauty can be used as a primer to give you a glow when applying make up, or I wear it just by itself as I don't wear foundation and things and it's given me such a glow, granted when I first tried it I was burnt and it did bring out the redness but since that's gone and my face is now tanned it really does give me that last of the summer healthy glow and it's all thanks to hibiscus and its richness of AHA's giving that gorgeous luminous look. I'm hoping this gives me that lasting summer glow even when the weather turns cold and miserable!

* sponsored post - however all opinions are my own.

Honest to Blog: Friendship

Tricky one to write this post. It's something I struggle and get down about often. When I was in primary and secondary school I always had a big group of friends, most of which were boys I just seemed to always click with them more. But in a way that's now come back to haunt me or may be I've never actually been good at making friends? I guess what I'm trying to say in this honest to blog post is that friendships are hard for me.

I want that friendship where you wine and dine over conversation full of laughter or even deep thoughts. I want the friendship where you always have that person to text and you have inside jokes or where you take weekend breaks away with your small girl gang creating memories for a life time that you can share with your own children when one day you go on play dates and things as you grow older.

I want that feeling where after each encounter you feel so happy and content and it pushes that loneliness from us all that will not waver until the next meeting. I want to be that person that friends know they can come to 24/7 if they want to because I'd be there for them to talk to and for me to listen and talk back when it's needed.
After leaving school settings, whether that be primary school, secondary school, college or university where we are pretty much thrown together with others and make friends because what else is there to do when we see them 5 days a week for hours. School is how we make friends and where we create our memories with those friends and we have people we can turn to when we feel stressed or sad and  those are the people  that we speak to all the time and go shopping with and have those fabulous school sleepovers it's easy making friends at school. I have had some fabulous friendships and always have such nostalgia when I come across old photos and things.

But sadly the majority of those friendships for me bar a few have dwindled, never for bad reasons but the norm that happens for most people. We grow up. We grow up and we create new lives, we get jobs, we go to university, we start families and become adults and with that I've experienced lots of friend losses. This is probably a main reason of me feeling so down. I crave what I wrote above. I don't really know what I'm trying to say in this post to be honest. It's a big brain dump on how I miss having close friends to make memories and talk to and gossip with pretty much 24/7.

I also do not have an clue on how to make friends now days. I try to use social media to talk to people but at the moment it's not clicking, I guess it takes a little longer to click especially through the internet but yeah I guess in a way this is a reach out in asking people what they do to makes friends. I have so many wonderful people in my life, I just really want a few more close friendships and to create memories that will last a life time! (That's so my poor bestie doesn't get bombarded with me asking her to do everything and anything with me - although I know she loves it)

I feel it's going to get to a point where people start making friends online, kinda like tinder, but less creepy and weird so if anyone wants to chat and make friends honestly feel free to message me, I don't bite and it would be lovely to talk to more like minded people that enjoy blogging or going on adventures or coffee dates and all sorts!
I'm so tired of feeling lonely and not having a group of girls that I can chat to and things, lets use all our kindness and platforms to create friendships and memories!

It's Ok To Be Lazy

I was meeting my friend for brunch, like we have been doing on a weekly basis for the past 2 or so months and we were discussing everything, like girls do and we both started talking about how we feel weird. Not down or anything just weird and we weren't sure why. We said that we felt lazy while our other halves were out everyday working their butts off and here we were living the life of luxury like 'soccer mums' brunching every week, relaxing at home, meeting other people and basically doing whatever we please. We talked about how we felt so guilty and lazy and not great about it in the slightest.

But then my friend said we shouldn't feel this way. We have both finished courses and worked incredibly hard on assignments and me on placement and both got the results we worked really hard for and now it's our summer. We may be adults now but we deserve a summer to relax and enjoy the time off from all that hard work we did. Because we'll both be starting jobs and working 5 days a week and really starting our new 'adult' lives like everyone else. We spoke about how when we start these jobs if we continue to feel guilty about relaxing like we do, then we won't feel rejuvenated and properly ready with our new working routines. So instead of feeling bad I'm going to learn to enjoy this time off, because heck after this is over I won't get it anymore. (Well actually I will because I'm working to the school terms, but hey!)

That means from now on, if I wake up with my boyfriend at 7:00am to see him off to work and then climb back into bed for 2 or even 3 more hours and in that time I spend it dozing in and out of sleep or watching copious amounts of youtube or reading blogs that's fine by me. It's something I enjoy doing and I won't be able to laze in bed gone 10:00am by myself and being leisurely.
The days that I'm at home in my pyjamas watching episode after episode on netflix and they ask if I'm still watching and I click yes, well who cares!? I won't be able to do this as often as I like soon and I will so miss being able to wear my pyjamas all day any day and changing only to get into a new pair after a shower.

If I want to go out for brunch, or breakfast or lunch or dinner once a week (maybe more) than I bloomin' well will! There is nothing I like more than food and my goodness do I like trying new places and when I'm working it'll be 8:30-6 most days so I won't be able to eat out at any time of day as often as I'd like so I am gonna make the most of it!

One of my favourite things is sitting in the lounge with my mum eating tasty feta, ham and salad wraps with tea or coffee and watching the most awful but brilliant tv programmes - see, naked attraction, my face or yours, don't tell the bride and others. Also when it hits 2 pm we go off to our bedrooms to have some chill alone time and I absolutely love it. It's quality time with my mum and that all important recharge time and now my mum has a job and I soon will be working we have to make the most of this mother daughter time and give no cares who knows just how lazy and awful our tv taste is!

What I'm trying to say is, is if you too are at a time in your life where you don't feel like doing much or you feel like you too are being a 'soccer mum' then it's ok. We all deserve that time and you shouldn't feel guilty because not many people get this time to just relax and enjoy doing whatever they wish so to speak. We'll all be working our butts of soon so enjoy being lazy, you never know when you'll be able to next!

That Red Wrap Dress

DRESS: NEW LOOK | JACKET: TOPSHOP |  TRAINERS: CONVERSE | BAG: OLD | SUNGLASSES: RAYBANS

Red dresses, who hasn't seen them around?! So I thought I'd grace you all with yet another red dress. I am all about wrap dresses at the moment I can not stop wearing them, as well as looking at others I so badly want to buy. They really are the ultimate summer dress, just like the skirt you can use the wrap to hide a food baby and what more could you ask for, if you're anything like me and love eating that is! I am so about adding a few more floral and colourful pieces to my wardrobe and this ticks both those boxes!

I am all about a good dress, however I am not all about being super girly and so I paired the dress, like I do with most dresses with trainers and a leather jacket. I love the black colours with a girly dress I feel it really does un girly the whole look. I also cannot get enough of this bag at the moment, I feel it reminds me a little of the zara bag that everyone and their dog seems to have but I got it for free as it was my sisters - the perks huh!? I really dig the chain it really adds something to an outfit I think.

Also anyone noticed how it's not my usual two locations for shooting photos in! How exciting to have a new location, I saw this posted on the @brighton instagram page and just knew it would be the absolute perfect location to shoot a red dress in. I just thought the green door and the wall would compliment the dress so well and I absolutely adore how these photos turned out!

Are there any dresses that you are loving this summer?!

Just a Little Life Update

I cannot remember if I've mentioned it, but I have finally finished university! For those that don't know I have spent the last three years studying Primary Education at The University of Roehampton. I think it was the hardest part of my education I've ever done, I mean of course it would be, its a big step up from GCSEs and A-levels, but I didn't realise just the intensity it sometimes held. But it was worth it, It has shown me just how much I love working with children.

However, I haven't taken the same route as everyone else who has finished my degree. Everyone else I know are eagerly awaiting to start teaching their first ever class come September, with some who have already started. Me, I chose to take time out and wait a little longer to go into teaching fully. I am still working with children and will actually take the role as a teaching assistant come September. The reason for this is because although I enjoyed my degree and loved my placements and taking on the role as a teacher, on one placement I got mixed views from teachers. Some were making me weary of the fact that even though they loved it it was pretty much their whole life and not just a part of it. That threw me, because I have always had this idea of doing a job I love by then also having a good balance of work and personal and I was afraid that wouldn't happen. I work hard, but I also need time to completely shut off and I was finding on placements I was doing stuff every evening and nearly my entire weekend was taken up with planning and things. This wasn't the only reason but it solidified the fact I wasn't ready and still feel I have things to do with my life which don't include teaching full time.

So with being a teaching assistant I can still assist in their learning, still feel the reward of those light bulb moments and enjoy it all but come the end of the school day I get to switch off, I get to come home and focus on me and any hobbies I have and my friends and family and not feel guilty for any of it. I am worried, I'm worried I could disappoint those closest to me because they've always loved the idea that I've gone away to learn to be a teacher and now I'm hesitating. It's not to say I will never do it, because give it a year or two and that passion might come back and I might feel ready to fully dive into it or I might be taken down another path.
But for now, I still get to work with children and I still get time to continue with other things and I am very very excited for the next year or so. This also means plans to travel South East Asia are on hold, but Sam has promised we will explore Europe and even good ole' England until we are ready and have a solid amount behind us that would ensure we would have no worries when it came to travelling and you never know we may even find a way to finally move out and get our own place together!

A part of me feels like I have failed in some way or another and when telling people my plans I feel I really have to explain myself and justify why I am doing what I've done. But what matters is being happy, and if it works for me then it works for me. It doesn't make me any less successful for going straight into it. I still completed a degree. Although I am excited I am slightly hesitant, I don't fully know what the future has instore for me right now and I am someone that loves to have some sort of plan but it's exciting to know that anything could happen in the next couple of years and I'm excited to see what that could be!

It also means pagesfrombeth won't be disappearing, again I knew if I went into teaching I'd never have time for this and it would slowly dwindle away, but now it doesn't have to and I want to work so hard and meet and talk to lots of people and have this space of the internet as a place for good maybe even great things to happen!

Have you had to make any big decisions recently? How did you feel after making them?

This Seasons Must Have Skirt Style

CAMI: TOPSHOP | SKIRT: NOBODY'S CHILD | SHOES: CONVERSE | BAG: (old) | SUNGLASSES: RAYBANS | NECKLACE: ORELIA

What is there to say about this skirt style that hasn't been said before? In all honesty, when it first hit the scene I wasn't the least bit interested, they were nice but I didn't feel that I desperately needed one. However when I realised they were similar to the wrap around dress, and knowing I'd  have the joy of choosing a top half I quickly changed my mind.

They really are flattering and let's not forget the food baby you hide with the genius wrap around style. I feel it looks flattering on anyone and you can really dress it up or down. I chose this one from Nobody's Child due to not being one for lots of colour but I loved the black skirt with red flowers as it really can make a plain outfit look quite put together. Unfortunately this one is in the sale and last time I checked they only had one size left. However, Topshop recently bought out a skirt similar to this one which will be linked here. It is however a blogger fave so selling out quick too so head down to your local store as quick as possible!

I decided to pair the skirt with a black vest, black bag and the converse to give it a not so girly look as I'm not one to be super girly but like having a little girly look now and again. I also paired it with the belt to break it up a little as I just didn't like how it looked too much before adding it! This skirt I will definitely be wearing till it get's cold, it really is perfect for summer!

How do you like styling skirts?

Adding Prints To Your Room

There are two things I love nothing more and they are prints and Brighton, so when modern map art got in contact with me and asked if I'd like one of their prints I jumped straight onto the website and tracked down a Brighton map. These map prints are created with elegance and modernism in mind so that they are able to fit into any home and give a touch of nostalgia to those who have connection to the city. Of course they have definitely hit that idea on the head as I did go straight for my home town due to the strong connection I have with it and how much I love it.

I could spend absolutely hours looking at this map and tracing the delicate lines of all the roads, it's amazing how chaotic it can look to someone, but to me I can trace where the shopping centre and the parks and friends houses are just from looking at this lines and it really is amazing. I even love how the pier and the marina made the cut to all things well known to Brighton.

This frame had been empty to ages and now stands proudly on my shelf and I couldn't be happier with it and how it tied the shelf together, I always thought there was something missing and now it's full and I can't help staring at it! I personally like the black and white feel as it adds a bit of something something to my very girly pink shelf and it really does stand out. But, if you don't think this white and black look would tie into your room, you can get the prints in a range of colours for some prints but I'm sure if you wanted something a little different there about page does say to just get in contact with them to help make it feel as unique and personal to you!

They have a huge collection of city maps to choose from and  even world maps and ski maps to choose from so there is something for everyone! I think they would make such thoughtful gifts too. Whether you're purchasing for someones anniversary, birthday or just to say I love you places we visit can really hold special memories so why not get a print to really remember those moments and put in your house! The quality was so good of the paper that actually you don't even need a frame you could just pin it to the wall I was so impressed with it and would seriously think about purchasing more of these on larger scales also!

Creating Summer Memories

Summer is my absolute favourite season. I have amazing memories of my summers as a child and always vowed to continue to fill my summers with memories and stories that I'd tell my own children one day. However, I have found that since leaving school and friendships seriously diminishing and also Sam and I being absolutely awful at thinking of things to do also, my summers have been anything but memory making and it's never fun to look back on. This year due to finally finishing University and going out into the real adult world this September I decided that it really is now or never to create a Summer full of memories.

I thought during this challenge of finding things to do and having days out I would document them here in case any one else has ever felt the same, where you struggle in deciding what to do and want to create memories too in the hopes this either inspires you to do something similar or if you live in or near South East England then you to can visit and do the things I plan on doing or something similar!
With the sun still kindly shining and giving us the summer England deserves so far and it being my friends birthday during the week I thought what a better way to get people together than with food. I absolutely love picnic food! I could demolish a whole box of cocktail sausages, as well as dips and crips and all sorts I absolutely adore it and I knew my friends would to so that was the first decision made! Also as mentioned because the weather has been so beautiful I thought it'd be crazy not to spend it by some water and although we are lucky to have Brighton beach on our door step, I thought going and exploring somewhere new would be such a lovely idea and who kew this was practical on our doorsteps too.

So the pitch for Barcombe Mills was sent to the group and luckily 2 friends had already been an visited so we were set for our Saturday explore and picnic! When we parked up there was a pub car park and then an overflow car park so plenty of space for everyone. We first went and sat in a field by the pub. Although we didn't actually visit and have a drink there the pub looked so sweet. It had a lovely beer garden and was pitched right next to the river and so they have set up row boats that you can hire for £6 for an hour which I think is bloomin' brilliant! However, if you go on a gorgeous day like we did I would be prepared for a very long wait.

Although this first field was lovely, it was also home to cows and we all know that cows like to poop. So after pitching up the picnic and settling down our adorable furry friend also liked the poop and got a little mucky, so after a quick wash for him we decided to go for a walk and find a new place to have our picnic. Luckily for us because my friends had been before they knew the way and we took a beautiful 20 or so minute walk and I'm so glad we did! The walk was stunning, honestly if you just want a new place to walk still visit, you can walk by the stream, through gorgeous fields and pass lots of furry friends a long the way!

We pitched up right next to the river and even though there were a fair few other groups pitched around us there was plenty of room for every one. We swam in the river, honestly it was so refreshing and not at all gross! The boys found a tree opposite us and took it in turn to climb up and jump and we also just chatted, ate, drank and it was amazing. People were coming past on dinghy's, little boats and even paddle boards it really did seem like a little gem to find in the East Sussex countryside.

We were all having such a lovely time that we didn't think to keep track of the time and before we knew it it was 8:00pm and we got the pleasure of walking home through the golden hour which sadly no photos were taken but it was stunning! We walked back through fields of sheep, over little bridges over the river and it was so peaceful and tranquil.

We came home, sunkissed skin, sleepy eyes and snuggled down to watch a couple of episodes of Prison Break before heading to bed with big smiles on our faces it was a gorgeous day and definitely the first of my summer memories!

What ideas or trips are you taking to create summer memories? Ideas are welcome I'd love to do a series of this throughout summer!

My 4 Summer Perfumes

I absolutely adore a perfume. It's something I ask for either for my birthday or christmas every year and it's the one thing I never leave the house with out doing. So I thought I'd create a post on the 4 that I have been rotating in the last month and will continue to for the next few.

Dolce and Gabbana - The One - When reading about this perfume it says the top notes are full of fruity tones ranging from citrus tones as well as lychee and bergamont. I've always associated summer scents with light fruity smells and even floral - although I had drifted away from those since my high school days. However The heart notes to this are full of floral tones being jasmine and lily tones with plum in their too. I found that a lot of the perfume I like do have hints of jasmine in them and this perfume also has a base note of musky, amber and vanilla tones which help to ensure the fruity/floral notes aren't too over powering.

Jo Malone -  Sea Salt and Wood Sage:  This perfume is my absolute favourite out of them all. Since it came out I badgered anyone for it and was kindly gifted it by my boyfriend and I really did feel like the luckiest girl. It's perfect for summer due to the freshness that the sea salt brings but then there are some earthy vibes thanks to the wood sage which are two of my favourite tones to any perfume. Plus doesn't the name just scream summer enough! Who doesn't want to smell like a beach and adventure in an essence during the summer season!

Jo Malone - Peony and Blush Suede: I smelt my friend wearing this and ahhh myyyy gawddd! It is divine and she then very kindly gifted this to me too (how lucky am I to be gifted with to Jo Malone perfumes at different times!!) I mean for one who wouldn't like a perfume with the bloggers favourite flower. The site says it's mingled with red apple and jasmine as well as the soft scent of blush suede and to be honest they're right when they say it's luxurious and seductive, I get go so many compliments when I wear this.  - Also side note, if you do have both of these I highly recommend spritzing them on you together because paired the scent is honestly amazing! The compliment each other so well!

Tom Ford - Velvet Orchid - Again Velvet Orchid has notes of jasmine, bergamont and vanilla similar to The One. But with added black orchid, honey and turberose. Again though floral scent isn't to over whelming and I feel with a bit of a fruity note and the help of black orchid really make it fresh as well as a seductive feel to it. I actually really enjoy wearing this on a date night or evening plans because I feel like it's quite a sexy type smell if that's the right way to describe it!

What are your favourite scents for summer? I'd love to know!
